Dafu waxberry

(wuxinews.com.cn)

The Dafu waxberry is produced in Dafu and Maji mountains in the suburban areas of Wuxi, with a 1,000-year cultivation history.

Waxberry is native to the southern areas of the Yangtze River and was named the “Proper Fruit in Yangtze River Delta Area” in ancient times. With thick flesh and a small core, Dafu waxberry tastes sweet and sour.

The fruits have the effects of quenching thirst and inducing salivation. Wuxi locals also like eating “waxberry soaked in white wine”. Once soaked in wine and added with a few scoops of brown sugar, waxberry wine may help remove wet and check diarrhea as well as relieve heat and stand the cold.
