Wang Quan, the mayor of Wuxi, Jiangsu province, met with a delegation from Japan's Sony headed by Shoji Nemoto, the executive vice-president of the company on May 14.
As a leading company in electronics industry, Sony has made great contributions to the economic development of the city, said mayor Wang, adding that, both sides have established a sound bilateral cooperation over the past 15 years since Sony has started its operations in Wuxi New District. He also expressed his hope that the company could bring in more products and technologies to the district and make more investments in the city.
Sony executive vice-president Nemoto praised the government for its support for Sony's expansion in Wuxi New District and pledged to enhance the research and development (R&D) activities in the city. After being briefed about the city's emerging Internet of Things (IOT) industry, he indicated that the company could enter into cooperation with local IOT companies.
Among Sony's products are televisions, digital cameras, semiconductors and electronic components. It has founded three companies in Wuxi New District, which are Sony Electronics (Wuxi) Co, Sony Digital Product (Wuxi) Co and Sony China (Wuxi) Software Development Center.
