A delegation led by Wuxi vice Mayor Wang Jinjian visited Cambodia from Nov 16 to 18 to introduce the investment climate of the Cambodia Sihanoukville Special Economy Zone (SSEZ), reported the Wuxi Daily.
SSEZ has seen $400 million in import-export volume, topping all overseas economic and trade cooperation zones invested in by China, said Wang.
During the promotion meeting, 35 Wuxi companies from the infrastructure construction, steel, textile and cable industries inspected the zone, of which ten signed letters of investment intent with related authorities.
To bolster tourism and improve the business environment, the two sides also talked about chartered airplane flights between Wuxi, SSEZ and Siem Reap.
SSEZ, co-developed by Jiangsu Thaihu Cambodia International Economic Cooperation Investment Co. and Cambodia International Investment Development Group Co. in the spirit of China's "Going Global" strategy, is one of the first eight overseas economic and trade cooperative zones approved by the Ministry of commerce of China.
The zone covers 1,113 hectares and is located 3 kilometers from the Sihanoukville airport, 12 kilometers from the Sihanoukville international deep water port, and close to the NO 4 Highway.
Its dominant industries include textiles &clothes, machinery & electronics and high-tech industries, and developing bonded areas. It offers logistics and other facilities to service the zone investors well.
