Wuxi Taihu National Tourist Resort at Mashan Peninsula is set to host the seventh Taihu International Angling Tourism Festival from Oct 2 to Dec 2.
This year's festival will offer various activities, including the 2016 Wuxi Taihu International Angling Open Tournament, 2016 Manshan Running Competition, 2016 Wuxi Sports Dance Championship & National Sports Dance City Invitation Tournament and 2016 Wuxi Mashan Women Mini-Marathon Competition. Thousands of anglers, runners, dancers and travelers from across the world are expected to participate in the event.
The festival is sponsored by the Wuxi Taihu National Tourist Resort management committee and Wuxi's tourism and sports bureaus, and is designed to encourage local people to pursue a healthy lifestyle and to enhance Wuxi's international profile.
The previous six festivals were held in 1992-1996 and 2015 respectively, attracting many domestic and foreign visitors while contributing to the development of Mashan.
Mashan's famously mild climate and fertile soil have led the region to be nicknamed the "fruit garden in the south of the Yangtze River Delta". The resort zone is currently developing more tourism projects and forging new leisure brands.
