"The manufacturing industry, especially the automobile sector, has become more intelligent", said Wang, who is also the general manager of Bosch Automotive Diesel Systems Co. He voiced his vision for the future of the automobile industry during the two sessions, saying that automobiles have the potential to be zero-anxiety, zero-emissions and zero-accidents.

The three "zeros" actually mean automation, electrification and interconnection, according to Wang. Bosch has set up three bases in Wuxi, one of which engages in electric vehicle R&D, smart transportation and gas disposal. He said the auto parts sector is a competitive industry in Wuxi which should play a more active role through establishing a series of professional institutes and platforms, as well as making international industrial standards.

"We should operate time-honored enterprises with innovation."

The Wuxi No1 Cotton Mill recently celebrated its 98th opening anniversary. When asked how to operate such a time-honored company, Zhou, who serves as general manager, said that innovative methods should be utilized. The company now has smart factories equipped with 90,000 sensors and 28 information systems, and is currently applying for the national intelligent manufacturing project.

"We will emphasize upgrading our technology and reforming the smart factory. We especially plan to launch an employee training plan to educate employees in handling intelligent production lines", added Zhou.
