Organized by the Asian Table Tennis Union, the event will last eight days beginning on April 9 at Wuxi Stadium.
The Championships will welcome around 300 athletes from 30 countries to compete in Men's Singles and Doubles, Women's Singles and Doubles, Mixed Doubles, and a team match. The 2015 competition in Thailand saw a dominant Chinese performance in which the team won six of seven disciplines.
The news follows an official signing ceremony that took place in Wuxi on Feb 17. Shi Zhihao, executive vice president of International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) and widely known to fans as China's former women's table tennis head coach, has unreservedly championed the city's suitability to host the grand event.
"Wuxi has frequently hosted table tennis games on a range of levels and considering its stadium facilities and urban environment, Wuxi absolutely has the capability to host a successful Asian Table Tennis Championships."
