Wuxi Marathon took the prestigious move of becoming a member of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS).
The news was announced by Zhang Zhenhua, deputy director of Wuxi Sports Bureau, at a news conference held in the Jiangsu province city on March 14. The appointment makes Wuxi Marathon the eighth Chinese race to join the association.
Membership into the association indicates Wuxi Marathon's augmented status as a globally recognized race. The organizers have constantly pursued excellence and attempted to apply the highest of international standards.
Wuxi Marathon was first launched in 2014 and aims to be a professional leading marathon event in China. It is the only full-length marathon held in Jiangsu province.
Entry to the marathon is limited to 30,000 places to ensure participants have access to good services and are able to fully enjoy the running experience.
One highlight of Wuxi Marathon is the picturesque route that passes through many of the city's famous scenic spots and historical landmarks including Turtle Head Isle Scenic Spot, Lihu Park, and Changguangxi Wetland Park.
