The Experience China event gathered 84 foreign students from 37 countries to visit Huaxi village in Jiangyin, East China's Jiangsu province on Nov 5.

The event became a chance for the foreign students to learn more about rural development in China.

Huaxi village, founded in 1961, claims to be the richest village in China. Huaxi calls itself a "model new socialist village", which turned from a poor rural locality into a modern rich community through agricultural industrialization, urbanization and education.

Foreign students visited the agricultural demonstration zone and listened to the report on Huaxi village, learning about the history and development of rural China.

"The spirit of Huaxi village impressed me. China's history and traditional customs attract me to stay here," said You Ting, a college student from Tajikistan.

The group of students also visited the base of Chinese Yew, which belongs to the famous rural enterprise Hodo Group.

Chen Jian, vice president of Hodo Group, gave a speech about how Hodo Group is developing its overseas business through the Belt and Road Initiative, which captured the attention of the foreign students.
