The inaugural World Taekwondo Wuxi Forum was held at the World Taekwondo Wuxi Centre on Dec 16 during the WT Grand Slam Champions Series (Dec 12 to 16).
The summit took place after a meeting of World Taekwondo (WT) and the International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF), which was a follow-up to the historic agreement signed in Pyongyang, capital of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, on Nov 2.
Choue Chungwon, president of the WT delegation, spoke highly of Wuxi during his speech at the Wuxi Forum. He believes Wuxi will play an important role in the future of the world taekwondo industry and become widely recognized as a center of global sports and science innovation.
"The World Taekwondo Championships are the most important and renowned event of the WT delegation, we are glad to have Wuxi as the host of the 2021 event," he said.

During the summit, Huang Qin, acting mayor of Wuxi, accepted the certificate for becoming the host of the WT World Taekwondo Championships and World Para-Taekwondo Championships in 2021.
Wuxi city in East China's Jiangsu province has come out as the leading city in promoting the development of taekwondo worldwide. The World Taekwondo Wuxi Centre was created in July 2018 with the aim of supporting WT's education and development programs.
