The Wuxi Marathon, one of the biggest events in the sporting calendar in Wuxi, in East China's Jiangsu province, was held on March 24, with runners from Ethiopia making a clean sweep in the men's and women's full marathon races.

Negawo Asnake Dubre set a new event record with a time of 2 hours 10 minutes and 21 seconds in the men's full marathon, which was also his personal best. He was only 1 second and 4 seconds faster than his compatriots Balew Yihunie Berseh and Berhanu Heye Ora, who took second and third places.
Tsehay Gebre Getiso, also from Ethiopia, won the women's full marathon in a time of 2 hours 28 minutes and 6 seconds. The runner-up Bekele Beji Geletu finished in 2 hours 28 minutes and 21 seconds. Both of them broke the previous event record for the women's full marathon.
The champion of the men's and women's full marathon both took home a prize of 100,000 yuan ($14,885).

Chinese runners Li Zicheng and Chen Linming finished the men's and women's full marathon races with times of 2 hours 15 minutes and 8 seconds and 2 hours 38 minutes and 17 seconds respectively, the fastest amongst the Chinese runners.
The Wuxi Marathon, a member of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races and a Bronze label race of the International Association of Athletics Federations, has been held for six years. This year's event attracted 33,000 professional and amateur runners from across the world, taking part in the full (42.2 km), half (21.1 km) and mini (5 km) marathons.
