Some 1,000 participants scrambled up the 339-meter-tall building in the 2019 International Tower Running Grand Prix at the Wuxi IFS, the city's tallest building, on June 2.

Divided into five groups, the event included competitions for teams, individuals, couples, parents and kids, and firemen. Runners raced up 1,746 stairs to reach the 65th floor.

In the men's individual group, Liu Zhisen from Guangdong province beat the Asian No 1 athlete Su Weiqing from Malaysia to win the race with a record-breaking time of 7 minutes and 22 seconds. The women's individual winner was Luo Fuli, a Wuxi native.

The organizers included a scoreboard to motivate more people to participate in the race. However, anyone capable of completing the lung-busting feat should be considered champions.
