Gunsan, South Korea and Jiangyin signed to become sister cities on April 2, 2009.
Gunsan, lying in the west of North Jeolla and separated with Yantai by Huanghai Sea, was officially founded in 1949. Having an area of 388.44 square kilometers and a population of 277,000, Gunsan is an important harbor city on the west coast in South Korea. As a central city in the middle of west coast, a trading hub and an emerging city in the Huanghai Sea Economic Circle, it is surrounded by mountains and rivers, which brings a convenient traffic in water, air and on land. Gunsan mainly produces autos, special steels, glasses, wines, chemical fibers, wood furniture, aquatic products, papers, machines and electronic products, and trades with over 40 countries and areas including America, Japan and China.
