The China-Russia New Media Youth Collaboration event kicked off in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province, on Nov 4 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.
The event, an important part of the third China-Russia Internet Media Forum and New Media Exchange Activities on the 70th Anniversary of the Establishment of China-Russia Diplomatic Relations, will run for 10 days this year.
During the exchange program, 12 teachers and university students from China and Russia will visit tech companies, high-tech entrepreneurship parks, and cultural institutions throughout Wuxi and use film videos to record local developments.
Cai Wenyu, deputy director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Wuxi Municipal Committee, delivered a speech at the launch ceremony saying that Wuxi was chosen as the host city for the event due to its rich culture and vibrant atmosphere.
He said that the city is ready to welcome both Chinese and Russian teachers and students and hopes to showcase its charm to the outside world.
Sun Hongjian, deputy secretary-general of the China Internet Development Foundation, noted at the launch ceremony that the exchange program serves as a platform for teenagers from China and Russia to communicate and discuss internet and new media.
Sun said he hoped that the program would strengthen communications between Russia and China in new media and build a stronger connection between teenagers from the two countries.
Sun Shangwu, deputy editor-in-chief of China Daily, said at the launch ceremony: "We must place our hopes on teenagers, as they will shape the future of China-Russia relations. They should spread positive energy and help improve relations between the peoples of China and Russia."
He also expressed the hope that these teenagers would learn from each other and build stronger friendships during the event.
