"Double Eleven", an annual shopping spree launched by Alibaba over a decade ago, has proved to be a huge boon for online shopping platforms.
Many famous Wuxi brands also got in on the shopping craze, including Hodo, Heilan, and Little Swan.
In addition to discounts on Tmall, Alibaba also offered significant price reductions in their official flagship stores.
Hodo, for example, has slashed prices at both its online and offline stores. In order to attract more customers, they have resorted to live streaming ads and brought in famous Chinese actor Wu Jing, the company's spokesperson.
By 14:00 on Nov 11, Hodo had seen a year-on-year increase of 15 percent in sales.
According to Alibaba, the revenue of Wuxi-based household appliance manufacturer Little Swan Co had exceeded 100 million yuan ($14.3 billion) by 2:00, along with 147 other brands.
Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group launched the shopping extravaganza in 2009, and the company had earned a total of 10 billion yuan from the event by midnight on November 11.
An increasing number of merchants and e-commerce platforms are doubling down efforts to develop more tailor-made merchandise for online shoppers in China.
