The Wuxi Economic Development Zone signed an agreement with the Shanghai Big Data Alliance during the Yangtze River Delta Digital Economy Forum in Shanghai on Dec 13 to help develop internet of things and industrial internet in Wuxi.
Ma Liang, director of the Wuxi Economic Development Zone, said that the zone is working to develop an industrial cluster for the digital economy, which includes internet of things, big data, artificial intelligence, and blockchain.
The Xuelang IoT Town, located in the Wuxi Economic Development Zone, was founded by the Wuxi government and Alibaba Group in an attempt to accelerate the integration of IoT and manufacturing.
Wang Jian, founder of Alibaba Cloud and an adviser for the Xuelang IoT Town, said that the Xuelang IoT Town gave the world not only a new "town" but a new "time" – digital time – which makes data a resource for industrial production and is expected to make manufacturing an engine of growth for the future digital economy.
According to the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, the digital economy of China was valued at over 31 trillion yuan ($4.43 trillion) in 2018, 30 percent of which was contributed by the Yangtze River Delta area.
Wuxi, as the main driving force behind the integration of the Yangtze River Delta, will continue to develop digital technology, build more internet platforms, and explore how to integrate and improve the manufacturing industry and internet of things.
