Three Wuxi biotechnology companies have successfully developed testing kits for the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV), according to the Wuxi Science and Technology Bureau.
Coyote Bioscience (Yixing) Co Ltd was the first Wuxi company to develop a new device that takes just one hour to yield results without nucleic acid extraction. The kit is also easy to use, making it highly useful at outpatient care facilities, immigration, and customs checkpoints.
To date, the company has sent over 30,000 kits all over the country, among which 23,000 went to Hubei province.
Another test kit that can shorten testing time for the novel coronavirus to just eight to 15 minutes has also been developed by the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention and Jiangsu Qitian Gene Biological Technology Co Ltd.
The test kit has been recommended by various departments for people suspected to be infected with novel coronavirus, as it is highly effective at identifying infections.
The test kit developed by Wuxi Techstar Science and Technology Co Ltd takes 30 minutes to produce results. Its fully-automatic kit involves sampling, purification, amplification, and detection, and is especially useful for disease screening in local communities and health centers.
Moreover, Wuxi Shenrui Biological products Co Ltd has won approval for its sample preservation kit oriented toward the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV).
The kit can not only quickly kill the virus when found in samples, but can also ensure that the nucleic acid in the sample does not degrade, greatly reducing the risk for medical workers.
