A total of 60 tourist attractions in Wuxi will open to Chinese medical workers for free in 2020 after reopening, Wuxi Culture and Tourism Development Group said on Feb 13.
About 50 of these attractions will also be free to these workers' spouses and children, including Lingshan Scenic Area, Nianhua Bay, the Former Residence of Xue Fucheng, Qingming Bridge Scenic Area, Dangkou Ancient Town, Yixing Shanjuan Scenic Area and Jiangyin Jizi Cultural Park.
Eleven other scenic areas, including Wuxi Movie and TV Base, Yuantouzhu Scenic Area and Huishan Ancient Town, will only open to in-service medical workers.
Local medical workers, including those in Jiangyin and Yixing city, can apply for a free tourism card which enjoys the same benefits as normal ones. Those who have left for Hubei province to provide medical support can take a cruise on the Grand Canal for free on unlimited occasions with up to five family members.
Citizens who have the Wuxi tourism card will receive an extension of validity. The to-be extended period will start from Jan 24 to the date tourist attractions are allowed to reopen, officials said.
Wuxi closed all tourist attractions Jan 24 as part of efforts to prevent and control the novel coronavirus outbreak.
