The commencement ceremony for Jiangyin's 19 major construction projects valued at about 17 billion yuan ($2.45 billion) was held on March 7.
Wuxi's Party Secretary Huang Qin and Jiangyin's Party Secretary Wang Jinjian attended the ceremony.
The 19 projects revolve around the new materials, advanced manufacturing, and modern service industries. They are expected to promote industrial transformation and help maintain economic growth amid the novel coronavirus outbreak in Jiangyin.
One of the projects is a high-end sealing technology research and development center for Jiangyin Shenhua Seal Co, which has received a total of $100 million in investment. The center will include a production workshop, R&D center, and logistics center for enhanced automobile sealing parts, high-precision medical instrument parts, and semiconductor processing sealing parts.
Part of the center will begin operating this year, and the completed project is expected to generate 500 billion yuan in annual revenue.
After the commencement ceremony, Huang Qin also visited Envision's AESC smart battery production factory.
The smart energy industrial park received 22 billion yuan in investment from Envision Group and began construction in Jiangyin last April. The park will include a wind power testing center and a blade research and development center. It is expected to earn 100 billion yuan ($14.9 billion) in annual revenue.
