Construction of a high-end semiconductor equipment project funded by Dalian Linton NC Machine Co started in Wuxi's Xishan district on March 24.
With investment of 3 billion yuan ($426.42 million), the project will cover 13.3 hectares and build a research and development (R&D) center and a manufacturing center. The manufacturing center is expected to produce 2,000 pieces of semiconductor equipment every year.
Wuxi Party Secretary Huang Qin attended the ground-breaking ceremony and said that the city has been working for years to develop a semiconductor industry. Huang urged all government departments to offer their full support to the project and was optimistic about its success.
Li Chun'an, chairman of Dalian Linton NC Machine Co, spoke highly of the strong business environment and government services in Wuxi, saying it only took 20 working days after the company acquired land-use rights for it to start construction.
This is the third time that Dalian Linton NC Machine Co has invested in Wuxi.
In December 2018, the company took part in a 1-billion-yuan project by Shenzhen Laplace Energy Technology Co to build its high-end semiconductor equipment manufacturing center in Wuxi, and in September 2019, it took part in a 1.06-billion-yuan project by Shanghai Fuchuan to develop a semiconductor industry in Xishan district.
