Urgently needed protective materials donated by Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province arrived at Sagamihara, Kanagawa-Ken in Japan on March 26, to help combat the COVID-19 epidemic.
The materials, which left Wuxi March 16, included 20,000 disposable surgical masks and 500 sets of protective suits.
Sagamihara and Wuxi became sister cities in 1985 and have maintained sound economic and cultural exchanges with each other for years.
At the end of January, Sagamihara donated 10,000 masks and 220 sets of protective suits to Wuxi, when the city was being hit by the novel coronavirus.
When the Japanese city was hit by the virus, Wuxi immediately provided medical supplies to the citizens of their sister city.
NHK public television in Japan also reported the news, saying that a government official of Sagamihara expressed his gratitude for the donations and his hope that the two cities will maintain their friendly relationship with each other.
On March 24, Wuxi's Xinwu district donated 50,000 disposable surgical masks to its sister city Toyokawa, Japan, to aid in the fight against COVID-19, a gesture that earned praised from the Chinese Embassy in Japan on its official Twitter account as an example of Sino-Japanese friendship.
