A delegation led by Choi Young-sam, consul-general of the Republic of Korea in Shanghai, visited Wuxi on April 9, aiming to strengthen cooperation and friendship between the two sides.
As the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic becomes an increasingly global struggle, Wuxi has provided support to organizations and cities around the world, especially its sister cities and partner organizations in South Korea.
On March 16, Wuxi donated 60,000 disposable surgical masks and 1,500 sets of protective suits to its sister cities, including Gimhae and Ulsan in South Korea.
Moreover, as the host of the 2021 World Taekwondo Championships, Wuxi donated 100,000 disposable surgical masks to the World Taekwondo Federation in South Korea on March 17, which was re-gifted to the International Olympic Committee by the federation.
Choi sent a letter to Wuxi Mayor Du Xiaogang expressing his gratitude for the donations several days ago, saying that China and South Korea share weal and woe and should continue to help each other in the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic.

Du welcomed the delegation and said the donations sent by Ginhae and Ulsan in early February were a big help, as Wuxi was being affected by the novel coronavirus.
Du said the Wuxi government has been keeping a close eye on the virus outbreak in South Korea and is always happy to provide help, adding that the city will lend full support to South Korean enterprises located in Wuxi looking to resume operations.
Choi spoke highly of the achievements Wuxi has made in preventing and controlling the epidemic. He expressed hope that both sides can strengthen communication and maintain a strong relationship.
Both sides said that they will adopt active measures to help South Korean enterprises and schools resume operations and promote Sino-South Korean economic projects.
