Two chartered planes belonging to China Eastern Airlines brought 95 South Korean technicians and management representatives from Seoul in South Korea to Wuxi, Jiangsu province, on May 29 as part of a move to restart business and production.
All of them work for SK Hynix Semiconductor and System Integrated Circuit Co Ltd in Wuxi's Xinwu district, which is the largest and most advanced semiconductor hub in China.
This is the first chartered plane to be sent from Wuxi to help a single company since China temporarily suspended the entry of foreigners with valid visas and residence permits on March 28 to curb the spread of COVID-19.
The Wuxi Commerce Bureau has applied for invitation letters for business visas for 394 foreign workers at 52 companies. With approved invitation letters, they will be able to apply for a Chinese visa to return to work in Wuxi, according to officials.
