Wuxi and Xuzhou, respectively located in southern and northern Jiangsu province, signed an agreement on June 9 to deepen cooperation and promote high-quality development in Wuxi.
The two cities have had a strong relationship for years. A total of seven industrial parks have been built and 615 projects undertaken through their mutual cooperation.
Cooperation will be strengthened in education, health, science and technology, agriculture, and tourism and more resources will be shared. Wuxi National Hi-tech District and the Xuzhou Economic Development Zone will also work together to build the Wuxi-Xuzhou Industrial Park.
Wuxi Party Secretary Huang Qin welcomed the delegation from Xuzhou and briefed them on Wuxi's economic and social situation. Huang also spoke highly of Xuzhou's efforts to revitalize and transform the economy.
Huang noted that both cities should continue to promote the development of industrial parks and make joint efforts to lead the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region.
Huang's counterpart in Nantong, Zhou Tiegen, thanked Wuxi for its efforts to help Nantong find a suitable development trajectory.
Zhou was optimistic about future cooperation between Wuxi and Xuzhou and called for more cooperation in economic projects and in competitive industries.
The government delegation from Xuzhou also visited various well-known enterprises and institutions in Wuxi, including Bosch Automotive Diesel System Co, Wuxi Lead Intelligent Equipment Co, the Wuxi National Digital Film Industrial Park, and the Wuxi Research Institute of Applied Technologies Tsinghua University.
