Wuxi, a city in East China's Jiangsu province, ranked 7th on a list of Chinese cities ranked by capital vitality index, according to a biennial report from Shanghai Jiao Tong University released on July 3.
The city capital vigor index is composed of five indicators, including the number of listed companies and the market value of listed companies, data of the previous two indexes per capita, and the emerging degree of listed companies.
The list was topped by Shenzhen, South China's Guangdong province, with Hangzhou, East China's Zhejiang province and Shanghai coming in second and third. Two other cities in Jiangsu province – Suzhou and Nanjing – ranked 4th and 9th, respectively.
According to the report, Wuxi ranked 8th in terms of number of listed companies, 13th in total market value of listed companies, 5th in number of listed companies per capita, 9th in market value of listed companies per capita, and 8th in the emerging degree of listed companies.
