The 2020 Wuxi Technological Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition kicked off on July 8, allowing talents from around the world to showcase their science and technology innovations.
The competition is divided into two categories: industry and groups. The industry competition focuses on seven strategic emerging industries, including new-generation information technology, biology, high-end equipment manufacturing, new materials, new energy, new energy vehicles, energy conservation and environmental protection.
The group competition will be made up of contests held in the southern Jiangsu region, domestic areas and overseas countries and regions. It is catered to foreign and domestic scientific and technological innovation teams interested in starting a business in Wuxi.
According to officials, the Yangtze River Delta sub-competition area, set in Hangzhou of Zhejiang province and Hefei of Anhui province, will work to promote the integrated development of technological innovation.
The Hangzhou competition is focused on projects related to digital economy and information technology, while the Hefei competition is meant for projects related to artificial intelligence and new energy vehicles.
Xi'an, capital of Shaanxi province will host the Midwest sub-competition. The overseas segment is open to teams working on integrated circuits, smart manufacturing and biomedicine. Overseas participants will compete for a spot in the final through online roadshows.
The award-winning projects will share a bonus pool of 1.95 million yuan ($279,000) and enjoy preferential talent and financial policies if they set up a business in Wuxi.
