A delegation from Japan-based Mizuho Bank China Co on July 9 visited the city of Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province, to further expand their existing links and do more business, according to local officials.
Wuxi Mayor Du Xiaogang welcomed the delegation and expressed his gratitude to Mizuho Bank for its long-term support given to Wuxi.
Du said that people in Wuxi were greatly moved when Japanese cities donated urgently needed protective materials to Wuxi when his city was being hit by the COVID-19 epidemic.
As Wuxi and cities in Japan have maintained sound economic and cultural exchanges for years, the city expects more international opportunities in all areas in relation to Mizuho Bank, Du added.
Sugawara Masayuki, chairman of Mizuho Bank China Co, spoke highly of Wuxi's work in epidemic prevention and control and its resumption of business.
He said the quality business environment in Wuxi had attracted many Japanese investors – adding that the bank would continue to introduce Japanese projects and encourage enterprises to invest in the city.
Mizuho Bank, known as one of the top three banks in Japan, opened its Wuxi branch in 2006. It was the first foreign bank in Wuxi.
