Wuxi will build a national innovation center for digital design and manufacturing, according to the Huishan Digital Economy Summit held on July 17.
Sponsored by the Wuxi Institute of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, the center will work on key technologies and applications of digital design and manufacturing for aerospace, automotive and rail transit, offshore engineering and ships, and new energy industries.
It will be the second national innovation center approved by the National Manufacturing Innovation Center to be built in Wuxi, working as the Jiangsu provincial center to carry out industry-university-research cooperation with Wuhan in Hubei province.
Officials said the two national innovation centers, focusing on integrated circuit (IC) characteristic processing, packaging and testing, and digital design and manufacturing respectively, will help to attract more related projects and talent to the city.
Both centers are expected to make breakthroughs in the key technology of IC and digital design, and even lead global development, according to officials from the Wuxi Science and Technology Bureau.
To date, the National Manufacturing Innovation Center has been deployed in 36 key construction areas to build 15 national centers in cities and provinces which have a strong foundation and potential for development.
