Wuxi's Xishan district reported an increase of 7 percent on the added value of industrial enterprises above a designated size in the first half of 2020, ranking first among districts in the city.
Gu Zhongming, Party secretary of Xishan district, said that there have been some benchmark projects in new energy, semiconductors and smart logistics in Xishan. These projects are expected to develop into industrial leaders and attract more related investment.
Gu said in the second half of the year, the district will mainly focus on projects in intelligent manufacturing, unmanned distribution, online consumption and medical health.
To accelerate the creation of a globally attractive technological innovation industrialization center, Xishan district will also promote its business environment as ideal for innovation and talents.
Xishan district has signed an agreement to cooperate with Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute to build the Jiangsu Integrated Circuit Application Technology Innovation Center.
The center is positioned to build the first independent and controllable industrial computer chip supply chain in China. It will build more than three integrated circuit application test platforms. Moreover, the project will incubate 30 chip design companies, introduce and gather 100 companies in the industry chain and cultivate about three listed companies.
This year, noticeable improvements in the living environment can be seen throughout Xishan district, which is in the process of giving a modern makeover to its roads, bus stations, walking paths and distribution boxes.
It is the first national ecological civilization construction demonstration area in Wuxi, which enjoys a rich cultural and natural heritage thanks to its beautiful countryside, including the towns of Shanlian and Doushan.
"We want to build the district into a big garden for residents to enjoy working and living here," Gu said.
Gu added that major works will continue to be carried out in Xishan to improve people's lives, including building more schools, controlling industrial pollutions, regulating traffic and parking, and restoring houses in rural areas.
