Wuxi released a series of practical measures to improve its living environment and promote the construction of the "Beautiful Wuxi" project recently.
The proposal is made up of 30 specific measures that cover eight areas including treating wastewater and air pollution, expanding the city's green coverage and bringing more efficiency to land usage, as well as optimizing Wuxi's functions.
Under the proposal, by 2025 the total emissions of major air pollutants will decrease significantly. The percentage of days with good air quality will reach more than 82 percent of the year. The forest coverage and green coverage rate of the built-up areas will reach 21.3 percent and 43.5 percent, respectively.
In addition, a preliminary green low-carbon recycling industrial system will be established by 2025. The proportion of the system's contribution to the output value of high-tech industries will increase to 50 percent.
Furthermore, the city will consolidate and expand its achievements as a national civilized city, according to the proposal.
The document proposes the establishment of a formal space planning system for territory. This will speed up the development and release of high-quality urban space, moderate living space, create beautiful environmental space and sustainable development, while striving to create the country's most economical and intensive city in terms of land use.
A number of "green lungs" for the city will be established as part of wetlands protection, including the Yixing Taihu Lake Provincial Wetland Park. Officials said the protection rate for the natural wetlands will reach 62 percent by 2025.
Professional property management companies will also be introduced to old communities, to help promote the living environment and provide better services for residents.
"The beauty of Wuxi will be cultivated, both externally and internally," said an official from the local government.
