Shield tunneling for Wuxi's metro line 4 was completed on Oct 9, with a tunnel boring machine breaking through into the section between Guangshi Road Station and Huangxiang Station.
According to the project manager, the next step in the construction process is to renovate the station's electromechanical system and lay tracks. The municipal road facilities within the main body of the stations will be gradually restored as well. About 35 percent of the tracks have already been completed.
Wuxi metro line 3, which runs from Liutan Station in Huishan district to the Wuxi Taihu International Expo Center Station in the Wuxi Economic Development Zone, started construction in May 2018 and is expected to begin operating in 2021.
The 25.4-kilometer line has 18 underground stations and passes through Huishan, Binhu, Liangxi, and Xinwu districts. The stations include Liutan Station, Guangshi Road Station, Huangxiang Station, Sheng'an Station, Huishan Ancient Town Station, Qingshan Bay Rongyuan Station, Heliekou Station, Xiyuannong Station, Wuxi Sports Center Station, Xiajiabian Station, Lihu Bridge Station, Wuxi Grand Theater Station, Wuhu Avenue Station, Zhouxinyuan Station, Wuxi Civic Center Station, Wudu Road Station, Fengrun Road Station, and Wuxi Taihu International Expo Center Station.
