People in Wuxi will be able to enjoy 120 cultural events during the 2020 Taihu Art Festival during the two months to the end of November, local media reported Oct 13.
This year's culture season will start with a concert presented by Liao Changyong, an operatic baritone, who is also head of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, and his students, at the Wuxi Grand Theater on Oct 19.
The Jiangsu Symphony Orchestra will perform a concert as the closing event on Nov 28, featuring works by German composer Ludwig van Beethoven. The concert will mark the 250th anniversary of the great composer's birth.
Other cultural and art events include stage performances, cultural exhibitions, music festivals and opera performances, including an original opera produced and performed by Jiangsu Performing Arts Group called Voyage to the East–A Fearless Buddhist Master's Mission to Japan.
Traditional opera performers in the Yangtze River Delta region will also be invited to display local culture in Wuxi from mid-October to mid-November.
The festival will help meet people's demand for cultural events and promote cultural exchanges, according to the organizers.
