Agreements for 58 economic and trade projects worth 63.3 billion yuan ($9.5 billion) were signed in Yixing, East China's Jiangsu province, on Oct 18. The projects include 16 foreign-funded ones with over $2 billion in investment.
Emerging industries, including integrated circuits, new energy, 5G information industries, and intelligent manufacturing, have become magnets for investment in recent years.
In addition, construction recently began on a new-generation electronic information materials localization project, a semiconductor core processing materials project, and an integrated circuit CMP materials project. Such projects are expected to help improve the integrated circuit materials industrial chain in Yixing.
The new-generation electronic information materials project, which has received over 2 billion yuan in investment, will manufacture products for semiconductor integrated circuit storage and the production of logic chips. It will promote the integration and localization of the semiconductor and display industries.
In addition, Yixing will continue working to transform and upgrade traditional industries, especially industrial ceramic manufacturing. The city is an important distribution center for industrial ceramic parts, as many ceramic products produced there are widely used for basic or terminal products involved in the application of the home-grown Beidou Navigation Satellite System.
