Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Chinese Taekwondo Association on Oct 27.
Under the ongoing national strategy to promote the sports industry, the two sides plan to expand cooperation to improve the local modern service industry and serve as an example for the development of taekwondo.
The two sides will co-develop a taekwondo global competition system, a science and technology equipment center, education and training centers, and taekwondo-related public welfare development funds in Wuxi in an effort to strengthen the taekwondo industry.
"We are optimistic and honored to cooperate with Wuxi," said Guan Jianmin, president of the Chinese Taekwondo Association. He said that three years of cooperation between Wuxi and the association has resulted in significant achievements related to international cooperation in taekwondo.
Wuxi has become the world leader in promoting the development of taekwondo. The World Taekwondo Wuxi Centre was established in July 2018 in order to support education and development programs for taekwondo.
Wuxi will also host the 2021 World Taekwondo Championships and the World Para Taekwondo Championships.
