The southern part of the Affiliated Hospital of Jiangnan University in Wuxi, Jiangsu province officially began operating on Oct 30.
The newly-opened hospital cost over 2.27 billion yuan ($339.3 million) to build and covers an area of 12 hectares, providing 1,500 beds. It is located at No 1000 Hefeng Road in Binhu district.
The hospital currently has a total of 50 specialties, of which 43 are available in the southern part of the hospital, including seven provincial key clinical specialties such as oncology, thoracic surgery and anesthesiology, four provincial key clinical specialties of traditional Chinese medicine such as nervous diseases and endocrinology and 10 municipal key clinical specialties such as urology and orthopedics.
Advanced technology has been employed throughout the hospital.
After blood is collected from patients, specimens will be sent to the examination department through an automatic transfer system, thanks to the hospital's fully automatic blood collection management system.
With the help of internet of things technologies and leading domestic internet enterprises, the hospital plans to integrate with banks and online medical platforms to reduce the amount of time needed for patients to register, pay bills, and pick up medications when seeing a doctor.
In addition, 5G technology will accurately transmit images and documents, allowing for remote diagnosis and treatment, consultations, surgery, and teaching.
Intelligent medical wards and a management platform for operating rooms were built based on RFID (radio frequency identification) technology, optimizing the nursing process and allowing for more efficient management of people and goods.
The Affiliated Hospital of Jiangnan University combines and improves upon the Wuxi No 3 Hospital and Wuxi No 4 Hospital in an effort to provide better medical services to people in Wuxi.
