Wuxi's Binhu district topped the city in terms of innovation development in the first three quarters of this year, with the output value of its high-tech industry accounting for 70.2 percent of the total output value of industries above a designated size.
Between January and September, a total of 737 research and development enterprises were newly built in Binhu district, 2.05 percentage points higher than the city's average.
In October, the Jiangsu Provincial Pattern Recognition and Computational Intelligence Engineering Laboratory began operations. The lab was jointly established by Binhu district and Jiangnan University, and is dedicated to the core scientific issues and key technologies of artificial intelligence and computers.
In addition, the National Intelligent Transportation Comprehensive Test Base was opened in Binhu district on Oct 29. Sponsored by the Traffic Management Science Research Institute of the Ministry of Public Security, the project is expected to promote the safety evaluation and standard research of intelligent networked vehicles, and contribute to the development of the related industrial chain in Wuxi.
As a specific technology management method, technology contract registration statistics include technical services, development, transfer, and consulting, said Hua Zhaozhe, director of Binhu science and technology bureau.
Hua said that technology trading is an important support for the development of regional economy.
According to Hua, as the main hub of scientific and technological innovation, Binhu district will implement an innovative enterprise cultivation plan, encouraging key industries such as integrated circuits, biomedicine, intelligent transportation, and information security.
Binhu will also support research and development institutions to develop more new growth points for economic development, added Hua.
