Jiangyin, a county-level city in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, topped the latest list of the country's top 100 industrial counties, which was released in Beijing on Nov 13.
This is the fourth time that Jiangyin has won the honor, which was announced at the annual China Country Economy Development Forum hosted by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology.
Jiangyin has once again proved to be one of China's most economically competitive counties, with its GDP up 2 percent to more than 279.8 billion yuan ($42.5 billion) in the first nine months of this year, despite the effects of COVID-19.
Jiangyin is home to 67,470 enterprises, over 21,000 of which are industrial enterprises and 1,838 of which are industrial enterprises above designated size. A total of 11 Jiangyin enterprises are listed among the top 500 Chinese enterprises, including renowned clothing enterprise Heilan Group and Jiangsu Sunshine Group.
Statistics show that various emerging industries are booming in Jiangyin. The output value of companies above designated size in the new materials, electronic information and biomedical industries have grown by 15.9 percent, 75.5 percent and 85.2 percent respectively since 2015.
