A delegation from Chinese technology giant Xiaomi Corp visited Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province, on Nov 17.
Wuxi Party Secretary Huang Qin welcomed the delegation led by Wang Xiang, president of Xiaomi Corp, and told them about the city's economic development situation.
Huang said that Wuxi is working to develop a new generation of information technology and advanced manufacturing industries, providing a strong industrial base for the city's cooperation with Xiaomi.
Huang added that Wuxi leads the country in IoT development and serves as a national sensor network demonstration zone. Xiaomi is expected to provide more platforms for promoting local products from Wuxi and attract more emerging projects to the city.
Wang spoke highly of Wuxi's economic development and prospects, saying that Xiaomi plans to further increase industrial investment and promote project implementation on the basis of the city's strongest industries.
Xiaomi will also help Wuxi's manufacturing enterprises and start-ups develop together under the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta, Wang added.
Xiaomi, founded in 2010, sells its smartphones in 90 countries and regions. In August, the firm ranked 422nd on the 2020 list of Fortune Global 500 companies. Sales of Xiaomi's power banks, which are produced in Wuxi-based Jiangsu Zmi Electronic Technology Co, rank first in the world.
