Topics on precision medicine were discussed at the Taihu (Mashan) Life and Health Forum, which was held in Wuxi's Binhu district on Nov 21.
The forum invited 14 members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and over 200 experts involved in the life and health industry. They shared information on the latest technologies and applications from their own research fields and discussed the future of precision medicine.
The event held 12 sub-forums on such topics as precision prevention, precision surgery, oncology precision medicine, and cardiovascular precision medicine.
Sun Xianze, the president of the Chinese Pharmaceutical Association, said that the forum has become a platform for experts and industry leaders in the field of medicine and health to share academic achievements and experiences.
Sun said he hoped Wuxi will increase its investment in scientific and technological innovation, accelerate the transformation of scientific and technological achievements and lead the high-quality development of the pharmaceutical industry.
Sun also said he expected Wuxi to develop a characteristic biomedical industry based on its own industrial foundation and resources, and strengthen cooperation with scientific and technological organizations and industries worldwide.
Zhan Qimin, executive vice-president of Peking University and also a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, welcomed guests at the opening ceremony as the president of the forum.
Zhan said he expected more efforts to be made by Chinese experts and researchers to develop precision medicine by making full use of the country's advantages and reserves in clinical resources, institutions and biotechnology.
