The Wuxi Dingshu General Airport in Dingshu town, Yixing city, Wuxi, will finish construction by the end of this year, local media reported on Nov 24.
In addition, Dingshu General Airpark, a general aviation industrial park under construction in Dingshu town, will cover a total area of 11.6 square kilometers. It will work to promote the development of the general aviation industry in Wuxi and improve transportation in the Yangtze River Delta region. The new airport is expected to begin operating in the latter half of 2021.
Apart from personal flights and passenger and cargo transportation, general airports also accommodate things such as air travel, air performance, aerial photography, air mapping, and agricultural care.
The Asian Express Aviation has agreed to move its headquarters to the Dingshu General Airpark to carry out business related to business flights, air tours, and personal training.
The industrial park is also working to apply for the permission to build a 1,800-meter runway, making it the largest business jet airport and an aviation logistics hub in East China.
According to a representative of the industrial park, many investors are hoping to cooperate with the park as they are optimistic about its location and the advanced aviation industry in Wuxi.
Dornier Seawings Company, which has stationed its amphibious aircraft construction project in the Dingshu General Airpark, is the first company to begin operating in the park.
The company has developed a new generation of amphibious aircraft by working with local governments. The new aircraft successfully flew for the first time in March.
According to the company, they have a team of 70 people engaged in the research and development of new generations of amphibious aircraft, which also works with teams in Germany on design and materials research.
