The administration commission of Wuxi Municipal Economic Development Zone and Hunan University based in Central China's Hunan province signed an agreement to co-establish an institute on Nov 27.
According to the contract, the new education institute will have cutting-edge technologies and teams focusing on intelligent control systems based on technologies such as intelligent network connections, new energy, big data and mobile internet.

The institute's research and development (R&D) team will be led by Ding Rongjun, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and dean of the school of mechanical and transport engineering at Hunan University.
The institute plans to build a deep-sea equipment testing simulation center and a deep-sea equipment dispatching control center in three years, and achieve 60 national invention patents or PCT (Patent Cooperation Treaty) international patents in five years.
The institute will also cultivate high-end personnel with product development experience and promote high-tech achievements in Wuxi, according to officials.
Hunan University is one of China's Project 211 and Project 985 universities and aims to become a world-class higher education facility. It has one graduate school and 25 faculties, with seven disciplines listed among the top one percent of the Essential Science Indicators' ranking.
Wuxi Municipal Economic Development Zone, located in the central area of Taihu Bay innovation area, has attracted many innovation platforms and incubators to support technical startups.
