The management committee of Wuxi's Xuelang Town, an internet of things (IoT) demonstration town located in the Wuxi Economic Development Zone, was officially established on Jan 9.
Covering an area of 35,000 square kilometers, Xuelang Town was co-established by the Wuxi municipal government and tech giant Alibaba Group in 2017 to accelerate the integration of manufacturing and the internet by combining investment capital, platforms, and technologies, while promoting mutual development.
In the past three years, the town has hosted the New-gen Manufacturing Conference of Xuelang Town twice to invite manufacturing enterprises to partner with Xuelang Town and become new industrialists and innovators in the digital age.
The Xuelang Cloud, a national industrial internet platform developed in Xuelang Town, has helped many local enterprises realize digitalization and upgrading.
Officials said that the establishment of the management committee of Xuelang Town is expected to optimize its system and mechanism, as well as accelerate the accumulation of resources like capital, markets, and talent on a higher and broader level.
The Xuelang Institute was also launched during the ceremony. The institute aims to become a carrier of industrial internet thought dissemination, a technology exchange platform, and a talent training base. It was supported by many industrial experts and consultants in the manufacturing industry from Xuelang Cloud National Industrial Internet Platform to work on the integration of artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing, as well as manufacturing.
