Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province saw robust growth in its foreign trade in the first two months of 2021, according to local customs.
The total import and export value reached 98.17 billion yuan ($15.08 billion) in the January-February period, featuring an eye-catching performance by private enterprises.
In the first two months of 2021, the total import and export value of Wuxi-based private enterprises reached 33.5 billion yuan, a year-on-year growth of 43.5 percent, driving a 12 percent growth in the city's total amount.
Officials from the Wuxi commerce bureau said that many local private enterprises have made timely adjustment on their products and marketing measures following global trade trends.

Wuxi Jinmao Foreign Trade Co, a textile manufacturer that mainly exported shirts before the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic, has pivoted to produce masks made of shirt fabric. Yang Nan, chairman of the company, said that their products are popular in foreign markets for their fashion design.
Wuxi Phoenix Painting Materials Co also cooperated with big cross-border e-commerce retailers like Amazon to expand its global market.
According to local customs, the sales revenue of Wuxi-based foreign trade companies on cross-border e-commerce platforms was 2.8 times that of 2019 last year. Wuxi has built 10 public overseas warehouses to promote the development of cross-border e-commerce.
