Yadea Technology Group Co, a major manufacturer of two-wheeled electric vehicles (EVs), is one of the Chinese firms that are looking to increase their global sales by adding new stores, plants, and distributors in markets participating in the Belt and Road Initiative.
Its manufacturing plant built in Vietnam has started operations recently, which is the first of its kind among Chinese firms working on two-wheeled EVs.
According to official data, the export value of the two-wheeled electric vehicle and parts industry in Wuxi's Xishan district reached about $300 million in 2020, an increase of more than 30 percent year-on-year.
Xishan district was a famous motorcycle production base in China in the 1990s. After years of development, enterprises located there produce over 30 percent of two-wheeled EVs in the Chinese market.
The district is home to many famous local manufacturers of two-wheeled electric vehicles, including Yadea Technology Group Co, Jiangsu Xinri E-Vehicle Co, and Wuxi AIMA Bikes Co. It is also a national base of foreign trade transformation and upgrading on motorcycles and parts.
In order to support the sustainable development of the two-wheeled electric vehicle industry in Xishan, the local bureau of industry and information technology encourages enterprises to use the RTO regenerative incineration system, which can control emissions of the air pollutant VOCs in the production process. A subsidy of 30 percent of the costs, up to 5 million yuan ($764,695), will be given to each enterprise that invests in the RTO equipment.
