The internet of things (IoT) industry cluster in Wuxi was included in the 25 key clusters of advanced manufacturing industries that will receive national support from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, local media reported on March 26.
The 25 key clusters of advanced manufacturing industries are mainly focused on new-generation information technology, high-end equipment, new materials, and biomedicine. The listed clusters will receive special support funds from the central government.
Wuxi plans to release more favorable measures to support the development of the IoT industry cluster and related enterprises, aiming to build it to the billion-yuan and trillion-yuan level scale, according to the local industry and information technology bureau.
Wuxi IoT Innovation Promotion Center won great applause from the national bureau for its power in promoting the development of the local IoT industry cluster, as well as for fostering cooperation between enterprises, institutions, and colleges.
In 2020, the center built six technology innovation bases with 12 IoT leading enterprises and research institutes, four co-labs with colleges like East China University of Science and Technology and Tongji University, as well as six joint innovation platforms with enterprises including the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology and Wuxi Rainbow Simulation Technology.
Wuxi was tasked by the State Council to construct China's national sensor network innovation demonstration zone to support the development of the digital economy in 2009.
Over the past decade, the city has taken full advantage of the demonstration zone to develop a robust IoT industry and has been at the forefront of the country's technological development and application. It also leads the development of the internet of vehicles and artificial intelligence in the country.
