The 2021 Taihu Bay Future Healthcare Conference was launched in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province on April 22.
The event was sponsored by the local government of Wuxi and attended by experts, industry insiders and business partners, who discussed the development trends and industrial policies of the life science and healthcare industries. It is expected to become a platform for investment institutions, enterprises, and high-end talent to interact and cooperate.
The three-day event included an opening ceremony, a main forum, three themed meetings, and a dozen sub-forums.
Huang Qin, Party secretary of Wuxi, attended the opening ceremony and promoted Wuxi to attendees. He said that the city has been working to enhance industry-university-research cooperation in emerging industries and help talent make breakthroughs in core technology for the biomedical industry.
Wuxi has attached strong importance to the development of a modern biopharmaceutical industry, and the city has released a series of measures and working plans to support its rapid development in recent years.
By 2020, the city was home to 1,502 biopharmaceutical enterprises, with an industrial scale of 113.6 billion yuan ($17.5 billion).
According to officials, Wuxi will focus on the development of three major industrial innovation clusters for high-end medical equipment, precision medicine, and digital medicine. The city's biomedical industry is expected to be valued at 200 billion yuan by 2022.
