This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China (CPC). Over the past century, the CPC has focused on bolstering its national poverty alleviation efforts.
Wuxi in East China's Jiangsu province has been working to strengthen poverty alleviation cooperation between East and West China, benefiting about 180,000 impoverished people in West China.
During the 13th Five Year Plan (2016-20) period, Wuxi invested 2.63 billion yuan ($406.5 million) to carry out 672 poverty alleviation projects in 314 towns and villages in Yan'an in Shaanxi province, Haidong in Qinghai province, Aheqi county in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, as well as other areas. A total of 793 talents also left Wuxi to assist local people on site in economic development, education, healthcare, and employment.
The Wuxi working group providing assistance in Yan'an helped introduce the largest foreign-invested project to Wenanyi Industrial Park. The EPS project can produce 200,000 tons of new material products each year, generating an annual output of over 600 million yuan.
In addition, more than 3,000 tons of local apples from Yan'an are sold in 10 direct-selling stores in Wuxi.

With a total investment of 123 million yuan, Huocheng No 1 People's Hospital (Jiangsu Hospital), which is sponsored by Wuxi, has greatly improved the local medical and health conditions in Huocheng county, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region since being put into operation.
Wuxi will continue to consolidate and expand the results of its poverty alleviation efforts, as well as provide more assistance to Panjin, Liaoning province and Yunyang town in Chongqing, according to the local government.
