A chorus of retired professional singers who used to perform in groups directly under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism staged a concert at the Wuxi Grand Theater on June 9 in celebration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.
The concert featured works adapted from films set in different historical periods and some popular choral songs showing love and respect to the Party in the new era, said Gu Xiayang, head of the chorus.
Gu added that the Wuxi concert was just the first stop in a national tour.
The chorus, established in 1984, has given hundreds of performances nationwide for free purely out of their passion and love for their country.
