This year's competition has attracted over 5,200 projects, including 718 foreign ones and 373 local participants from Wuxi. Projects involved in the fields of new-generation information technology, as well as new energy and new materials accounted for 35 percent and 17 percent of the projects respectively.
The Beijing competition is the first stop of the city competition stage of the event. A total of 30 projects among 101 applicants staged roadshows on site. The top-ranked teams will be able to participate in the finals.
More city competitions will be held in Chengdu, Chongqing, Wuhan, and Wuxi in the next few months, according to organizers. Over 70 projects will be awarded in the finals.
Liu Xiaodi, director of Tianjin Tianyi Zhongyi Technology Co, was attracted to the competition for its sizable reward and the favorable polices for high-end talents in Wuxi.
According to Chen Hanjie, deputy director of the Wuxi science and technology bureau, winners of the competition will be awarded with various favorable terms to conduct their business in Wuxi. Those meeting relevant conditions will be included in the Wuxi Innovation Fund Project and receive financial support of up to 500,000 yuan ($77,678).
Chen said that the local government will cooperate with various industrial parks in Wuxi to provide all-round services to high-quality projects so that they can develop in the city.
