About 100 Chinese notables returned to their hometown of Xishan district in Wuxi, Jiangsu province on June 20 to tour the district, share life stories, as well as exchange ideas about the city's future development.
Zhou Wendong, Party secretary of Xishan district, warmly welcomed the guests and encouraged them to return as he described the changes, as well as developments in the district and the city. Zhou also called for more business leaders and talents to return, as well as support the district's economic development and innovation.

During the event, three experts were engaged as consultants for Xishan's high quality development. They included Du Jiangfeng, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and also vice-principal of the University of Science and Technology of China, Huang Zhen, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and also vice-president of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, as well as Zhao Xijun, finance professor at Renmin University.
Xu Yongming, vice-president of online streaming site iQiyi, Lu Zhenda, professor at the college of modern engineering and applied science of Nanjing University, as well as four other scholars were engaged as ambassador of talents introduction to Xishan district.
In addition, a total of 24 projects worth 35.75 billion yuan ($5.53 billion) were signed during the event, covering various industrial fields like integrated circuits, biomedicine, high-end equipment, as well as electronic information.
