Yixing, a prefecture-level city of Wuxi, was among the top 100 counties in China in terms of comprehensive strength in rural tourism, according to a recent report from the National County Tourism Research Group.
Yixing ranked 13th on the list, which was third highest ranking in East China's Jiangsu province following Changshu and Kunshan.
With a total area of 2,038 square kilometers, Yixing is an ecological and livable city with eight national 4A scenic spots. In addition, it has won many honors, including "Chinese Outstanding Tourism City", "National Hygiene City", "National Environmental Protection Model City", and "National Ecological City" in recent years.
Yixing is well known for its pottery, with a long pottery history of more than 7,000 years. Its purple clay teapot craftsmanship is unique and attracts many tourists. The city was listed as a "national famous historical and cultural city" in January 2011.
